Privacy Policy
This policy explains, in plain English, what information this website collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, how Google AdSense and analytics cookies work here, and the choices and rights you have.
Effective date: 13 September 2026 · Website: greggsmenunearme.co.uk
1. Who We Are
This Privacy Policy explains how GreggsMenuNearMe.co.uk ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores and protects information when you visit https://greggsmenunearme.co.uk (the "Site"). The Site is an independent information resource about the Greggs menu, prices, nutrition, opening hours and shop locations in the United Kingdom.
For the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, we are the data controller for personal information collected through the Site. You can reach us about any privacy matter at [email protected].
By using the Site you acknowledge the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the Site.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you give us
- Star ratings: the star value you select and the menu item it relates to. Ratings are anonymous and are not linked to your name.
- Comments: the text you write, the optional display name you enter (or "Guest" if you leave it blank), the page you commented on and the time of posting. Comments are published publicly on the Site.
- Messages to us: our contact form opens your own email app. When you email us, we receive your name, email address and whatever you choose to write.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, time spent and approximate location (country or city level). This is collected by our analytics and advertising partners and by our hosting provider's security logs.
- Cookies and similar technologies: small files or identifiers stored on your device. See section 5 and our Cookie Policy for full details.
2.3 Information we do not collect
We do not offer user accounts, logins or subscriptions. We do not take orders or payments, and we never ask for bank details, passwords, National Insurance numbers or any special category data (such as health information). Please do not include sensitive personal information in comments.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use information only for the following purposes:
- To run the Site and display menu, price, nutrition and shop information.
- To publish ratings and comments and calculate average ratings for menu items.
- To reply to your messages, including corrections and data requests.
- To measure which pages are useful so we can improve content and fix errors.
- To show advertising that keeps the Site free to use.
- To protect the Site against spam, bots, abuse and security threats.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms & Conditions.
4. Legal Basis for Processing (UK GDPR)
- Consent: for non-essential cookies, personalised advertising and analytics where consent is required by law. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests: for keeping the Site secure, preventing spam, moderating comments and understanding aggregate usage, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Contract / your request: for replying to messages you send us.
- Legal obligation: where we must keep or disclose information to comply with the law.
5. Advertising and Google AdSense
The Site uses Google AdSense, an advertising service provided by Google LLC, to display advertisements. To understand how advertising on this Site works:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Users may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info or Your Online Choices (UK/EU).
- Other third-party vendors or ad networks may also serve ads on the Site and use their own cookies. Where this happens, their use of information is governed by their own privacy policies.
If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to your interests. For more on how Google uses data, read How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google advertising policy.
Consent in the UK, EEA and Switzerland: visitors from these regions are shown a consent message, powered by a Google-certified consent management platform, before personalised ads or non-essential cookies are used. You can choose to accept, reject or manage your choices, and change them later through the privacy settings link shown on the Site. If you do not consent, Google may still serve non-personalised ads, which use cookies only for frequency capping, aggregated reporting and fraud prevention.
We do not control which specific ads appear, and an advert does not mean we endorse the product or advertiser.
6. Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the Site: how many people visit, which pages they view, how long they stay and roughly where they are located. Google Analytics uses cookies (such as _ga and _ga_*) and processes your IP address to produce these statistics. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses, and we only look at aggregated reports. We do not use analytics data to identify individual visitors.
You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by rejecting analytics cookies in the consent message.
7. Other Third-Party Services
We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run the Site. Each processes data only as needed to provide its service:
| Provider | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdSense (Google LLC) | Displaying advertisements | Cookies, device identifiers, IP address, pages visited |
| Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) | Aggregated visitor statistics | Cookies, IP address, usage data |
| Supabase | Storing ratings and comments | Star value, comment text, optional display name, page, time |
| Cloudflare (Pages and Turnstile) | Hosting, security, bot protection on forms | IP address, browser signals, request logs |
| Google Fonts (Google LLC) | Loading the Site's typeface | IP address, browser type |
| OpenStreetMap | Map tiles on store locator pages | IP address, requested map area |
Links to external websites (including greggs.com, delivery apps and advertisers) are provided for convenience. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites and encourage you to read their policies.
8. Data Stored Only on Your Device
Some features save information in your browser's local storage rather than on our servers. We cannot see or access this data:
- Which menu items you have already rated, so you do not rate the same item twice.
- Meal plans and budgets saved in the meal planner.
- Ingredient and step ticks on copycat recipes.
- The time of your last comment, used to slow down spam.
You can remove this data at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
9. How We Share Information
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share information only:
- With the service providers listed in section 7, to operate the Site.
- Publicly, where you choose to post a comment or rating.
- With authorities, where required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our users or others.
- With a successor, if the Site is sold or transferred, under the same protections described here.
10. International Data Transfers
Some of our providers, including Google and Cloudflare, may process data outside the United Kingdom, for example in the United States. Where this happens, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, Standard Contractual Clauses, or the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
11. How Long We Keep Information
- Comments and ratings: kept while the related page is live, or until you ask us to remove them.
- Emails to us: kept for up to 24 months, then deleted unless needed for an ongoing matter.
- Analytics data: retained in Google Analytics for up to 14 months.
- Advertising cookies: expire according to Google's settings, typically between a few months and two years.
12. How We Protect Information
The Site is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections. Our database is access controlled, forms are protected against automated abuse, and we collect the minimum information needed. No online service can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect the information we hold.
13. Your Data Protection Rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete your information (for example, a comment you posted).
- Restrict or object to certain processing, including processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent for cookies and personalised ads at any time.
- Data portability for information you provided to us.
To make a request, email [email protected] with enough detail for us to find the information (for comments, include the page link and the comment text). We respond to verified requests within one month. If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
California residents: we do not sell or share personal information for money. You may request access to or deletion of your information using the email above.
14. Children's Privacy
The Site is a general audience information website and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through a comment, contact us and we will remove it promptly.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy when our services, providers or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page always shows the latest version. Where changes are significant, we will highlight them on this page. We encourage you to review this policy from time to time.
